| Pinot
Noir, Rancho Santa Rosa, Sta. Rita Hills, 2006
Rancho Santa Rosa is
a beautiful vineyard located in the heart of the cool
climate Santa Rita Hills appellation, an area now renowned
for Pinot Noir. The vineyard is sustainably farmed with
a philosophy of growing grapes with flavor and balance.
Upon delivery to our winery, we cold soaked the grapes
to extract color, flavor and tannins prior to fermentation.
Punch downs were done by hand 2-3 times each day, and
the new wine gently pressed in our traditional basket
press. The 2006 Pinot Noir was bottled after ten months
aging in French oak, and then released in December 2007.
250 cases produced
This Pinot Noir has aromas of red
and black cherries, with a hint of spice and pepper.
The flavors include touches of currant, earth, and spice.
With a smooth finish, this wine is ready to enjoy now
with mushroom pastas, poultry dishes, even grilled salmon
or seared ahi.

| Sangiovese,
Faith Vineyard, Santa Ynez Valley, 2006
Faith Vineyard just to
the north of the Carhartt estate vineyard has supplied
Sauvignon Blanc grapes for the white wine for several
years. The vineyard also has a very small block of Sangiovese
grapes that started to produce grapes in 2006 and we
happily took them all!The grapes were de-stemmed into
small open top fermenters and then cold soaked for a
few days. Twice daily punchdowns occurred during fermentation,
a rack and return, and then gentle pressing by our ½
ton basket press.
A classic Sangiovese - easy to drink
with lovely spice undertones and bright red fruit.

| Zinfandel,
Lockshaw Vineyard, Paso Robles, 2006
Paso Robles is well known
for their bold, rich and hearty Zinfandels, which we
just love! So, we couldn’t pass up the opportunity
to get the fruit from the ten-acre Lockshaw vineyard
located on the westside of Paso. Beautifully grown on
a vertical trellising system to obtain optimal ripeness,
this Zin is 100% clone 6 on 5C rootstock. We wanted
to extract all the goodness from these grapes, so de-stemmed
into small open top fermenters and then cold soaked
for a few days. Twice daily punchdowns occurred during
fermentation, a rack and return, and then gentle pressing
by our ½ ton basket press. Truly a handmade wine.
Just 150 cases produced.
This is a sassy Zin with lots of fruit
up front and a long spicy finish! Soft tannins, but
lots of character, this wine is fabulous with chicken
cacciatore, grilled lamb, pastas or garlicky greens.
